Since 1996, a close group of colleagues and I have provided intercultural coaching and training to more than 350 professionals, including doctors, scientists, engineers, and executives from Asian, Latin American, North American, European, and African countries.
We began at Xavier University as part of a joint venture with Procter & Gamble. Our original objective was to create an English language and business immersion program for young Japanese finance and marketing professionals who were being groomed for roles as global managers. The program, called "Flight School," won awards from Procter & Gamble Finance and from the Association of Continuing Higher Education.
In the past 12 years, the scope of our coaching and training has expanded greatly. This fall, along with serving existing Xavier University clients, I have begun offering other services privately, through Golden Intercultural. Now, in addition to providing intercultural coaching and training to foreign-born professionals working in the US, my colleagues and I work with Americans preparing for global assignments (in particular India, Latin America, China, and Japan).
